Year 7 Activity Day and Residential Camp Friday 14th- Saturday 15th July 2017

    • Students meet at The Haverhill Scout and Guide Centre Friday July 14th: CB9 8DT – between 8.30-9am.
    • Students will need to be wearing casual comfortable clothes and trainers. They will be active and getting dirty!! All students will need an outdoor coat.
    • Please provide a packed lunch and a refillable bottle with a lid. Drinks and snacks will be provided throughout the day. Please do not send your child with fizzy/energy drinks or chewing gum but a few extra snacks, sweets, marshmallows for the evening and drinks will be acceptable.
    • On arrival, students will be divided into teams for the activities, such as: bush-craft, archery and climbing wall.
  • All activities will be delivered by fully trained and insured instructors from: ‘Explore Outdoors.’

    • The cost for the day will be £17 made payable through your ParentPay account. Payments may be made in instalments.
    • If cash payments are preferable, these can be done using a barcoded letter which your child can collect from front office.
  • For students who opt not to camp overnight, the day will finish at 4pm. Students can be signed out at the Scout gate by a parent or we will need a signed permission slip giving consent for your child to walk home between 4-4.30pm.

Overnight Camp:

The fun continues into the evening and we hope that most students will decide to stay and camp overnight where they will enjoy a BBQ, bonfire, marshmallows, hot chocolate and lots of fun.

  • There is an additional cost of just £5:00 for the BBQ and overnight stay.
  • Tents will be provided by the school and there are some sleeping bags to loan out.
  • Overnight campers will need a sleeping bag, pillow, coat, warm jumper, and torch.
  • A folding camping chair is a luxury, as well as a blow- up mattress (but don’t buy one especially).
  • Mrs Baldwin will be assisted by a team of experienced staff (many of whom are Duke of Edinburgh Expedition and First Aid trained).
  • Children who have camped are to be collected between 9 – 9.30am Saturday July 15th.

Please note that students not participating on Friday 14th July will be expected in school as usual. Last year the event was a great success and all students camped.
