Note for Parents and Pupils

I was keen to write to you as I have recently started working as Chief Executive for the Samuel Ward Academy Trust and am very excited to have joined such an interesting group of schools, clearly determined to work together for the benefit of all the children across all the schools.

It is a privilege to join the trust and I am determined to build on the excellent progress the trust has made. The trust consists of 8000 children and young people and 1650 staff across 19 schools – one all age special school, 13 primary schools and 5 secondary schools in the area bounded by the towns of Bury St Edmunds, Haverhill, Newmarket and Sudbury.

The aims of the trust are that children and young people become Successful Learners, Confident Individuals and Responsible Citizens. The point of the trust is that we can do even better together than on our own. Schools all have their own particular characteristics and I am learning even now of the things that make each school special.

You are welcome to contact me –, on Twitter at @TimCoulsonSWAT – my aim is to do all I can to enable our schools to live up to all you dreamed might be possible for you when you and your child came to this school.

I hope you have a great year!

Tim Coulson Chief Executive, Samuel Ward Academy Trust
