Letter from Headteacher

Dear Parents/Carers,
The time flies by quickly and we are approaching December already! We have several events upcoming for your diaries. On Monday 12th December we have our annual Carol Service at St Marys Church where we join with Place Farm and Burton End in a traditional event of music and readings. This starts at 6pm and all are welcome. On 13th December we have our PROUD performance evening for Year 7. An opportunity for them to showcase their hard work this term to their families. Further details will be sent to you this week.

Thank you for your support with our drive on punctuality, the vast majority of our students have been arriving on time and our punctuality rates have increased over the past week. Please keep supporting this work to ensure that students are well prepared and ready for the day ahead. Please can I ask you to also take time to check that your child has the equipment they need for the day ahead. They should come into school with a well stocked pencil case and their Manor File every day, inside an appropriate school bag.

Linked to equipment is a build up of lost property that we have at school, both at the main office and our comms office. If your child has lost any equipment in school then please tell them to go to either place to check if it has been handed in. We have various coats, jumpers and even a skateboard in the store!

I need to update you regarding one of our teachers. Following a period of absence, Mr Powter our Drama Teacher has decided to leave the Academy to pursue other opportunities. We wish him all the best for his future ventures. He has worked with us in school for 12 years and in this time has engaged many young people in performing. He has produced and directed many high quality school productions in this time and provided lasting memories for the students of Castle Manor. We thank him for his contribution to our School community over these years.

Finally, I would also like to inform you that, in line with other local secondary schools, on the last day of term, Friday 16 December, we will be finishing school at 1:45pm. We will provide an early lunch for students and end the day with our traditional end of term assembly.

As always, please do contact me via email on VWhitcombe@castlepartnership.org.uk or my PA, Gill Mitchell on GMitchell@castlepartnership.org.uk if you would like to book an appointment to meet with me.

Yours sincerely,

Vanessa Whitcombe
