Digital Learning Project Q&A
In order to backup your iPad you must sign in to iCloud.
On the left-hand side scroll down and select iCloud.
Sign in using your Apple ID & Password. Agree to the Terms and Conditions.
At the “Merge with iCloud screen” select Merge.
Select OK to “Allow iCloud to Use the Location of Your iPad”.
To run a backup select Storage & Backup then select Back Up Now.
To backup work created using Keynote or Pages see the “How do I backup Keynote / Pages on my iPad?” section.
To backup Keynote and Pages on your iPad you must first setup iCloud. See the “How do I backup my iPad using iCloud?” section for further instructions.
Having setup iCloud follow the instructions below to backup Keynote and Pages.
Scroll down to Keynote / Pages and turn on “Use iCloud”.
Documents created within Keynote / Pages will now be automatically backed up using iCloud.
You must perform all the following steps before taking your iPad to the IT Office. If you have not done so you will be asked to perform these steps before the IT Team will look at your device.
Close All Apps
Double tap the Home button on your iPad (the button with the square at the bottom). This will bring up a list of all of the apps you currently have open. You must close all of these by swiping upwards on each one individually.
Sign Out of iTunes
Open your Settings. On the left-hand side scroll down and select iTunes & App Store. Press your Apple ID and choose Sign Out.
Remove Unused Apps
Please delete any apps that you do not use. You can delete apps by holding your finger on the app until an X appears. Press the X to remove the app from your device.
Reset the iPad (This will not delete anything from your iPad)
Hold down the Home button (the button with the square at the bottom).and the On/Off button at the same time – continue to hold until the iPad turns itself off. Wait 30 seconds and then turn the device back on.
Having performed all of the above steps, please check your iPad to see if your issue has been resolved. If your problem continues after these steps then please take your iPad to the IT Office.
If the following error occurs then the password for your email account is incorrect:
This is the same password that you use to login to the PC’s in school, for example the PLC computers. If you have changed this recently you need to enter the new password on your iPad. To do please follow these instructions:
Open your Settings:
On the left-hand side scroll down and select Mail, Contacts, Calendars:
Press Castle Manor Email:
Enter your password in the Password box :
Once you have entered your password press Done.
If the password you entered was correct you will be presented with blue ticks on the right-hand side:
Please note that the first time you open your mail you will still get the Cannot Get Mail error. However as long as you were presented with the screen with blue ticks then your mail will synchronise and the error will disappear.
If you enter an incorrect password there will be a short delay and the following error will occur:
Press OK and retry your password. If the error continues please speak to your tutor in order to reset your password.
If this does not fix your issue please see the “General iPad Issues” section and perform all of the recommended steps. If your problem continues after these steps then please take your iPad to the IT Office.
