Leadership Team Blog – Opportunity

This week I have been thinking about the fantastic opportunities on offer both here at Castle Manor Academy and in all the Castle Partnership schools.
This week our local papers carry details of a Year 10 trip to Cambridge University to take part in some maths workshops and lectures. The students were a shining example of Castle Manor Academy’s high expectations, behaving impeccably and engaging with the sessions. Last week also saw a group of students taking part in a special music session at The Corn House in Diss. The day gave our students an opportunity to work with three professional musicians, one of whom will be selected by students to come back and perform later in the year.
If we think wider, we will be able to remember students joining together with primary pupils i the summer to deliver presentations to headteachers from across Suffolk, students travelling to London to celebrate our work in outside learning, students ensuring that local community events like the triathlon run smoothly, students supporting charities throughout the year, students preparing for outdoor expeditions and students taking part in a huge variety of other opportunities.
Our students also take part in a myriad of sporting activities, representing our academy in a host of sports including football, netball, rugby, badminton and cricket. Many of our students also represent the wider community in some of these, and other, sports including cycling and horse riding.
My conclusion is that there are seemingly endless opportunities for our students and staff to engage in activities that stretch, challenge and help us develop as rounded individuals. Why not think this week about what you can take part in to extend your life experience?
