Leadership Team Blog – End of Year Reflections

As we reach the end of the school year, my first as Head of School at Castle Manor, I find myself reflecting on all that has happened during that time.

Firstly, I find it difficult to actually believe that a year has passed! I think also, it would be true to say that the year has been full of challenges, for all members of the academy community as we have built a new team to lead the academy into the next stage of its development, adapted our curriculum, through our digital learning project and revised pathways processes to meet the changing needs of the students and developed further our links with other local schools.

Of course, all of this change has been designed to further improve student experiences and outcomes and we our very excited about the future.

To try to single out particular events from the year as highlights is very hard as the students and staff have contributed so much during the year. Therefore, rather than one event, I want to mention one characteristic that I have been struck by many times throughout the year; that is that students at Castle Manor, in response to the tireless efforts of the staff, respond so positively and willingly to any opportunity that they are presented with, be it sporting, cultural, community or charitable in nature. As a result they have put themselves at the heart of their community and can really “feel proud” of their efforts this year.

I wish you all a wonderful summer break and look forward to welcoming the students back in September (all students are expected to return on Friday 5th September) for another year of challenge, progress and seizing of opportunities.
