Leadership Team Blog – 17th April 2015

We have now completed one week back at school after the Easter holiday. It has been a pleasure to welcome the students back to school, and to talk to them in assembly about how proud I am to be stepping in to the Head of School role at Castle Manor. This term is always busy with examinations being a significant focus for many students and we continue to work together to support them in their exam preparations.

During my assemblies last week I used the following quote from one of our Thoughts for the Day

“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colours. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you start is not the same as never leaving.”

Terry Pratchett, A Hat Full of Sky

I wanted to share this with you, as I have been able to take those ‘new eyes’  working with staff and students this week. It has been a very positive start to term, and we have focused on making sure the atmosphere for learning is the best it can possible be around the school. I wanted to make sure that I was sharing my high expectations with you, and to thank you for your continued support and co-operation in helping us.

One particular area you can support on is ensuring that students are arriving at school on time and with the correct resources and uniform to make sure their day goes smoothly. All students should have a school bag with pens, pencils, Manorfile/ homework planner and of course their exercise and text books. Whilst most students are well prepared, others need more reminding and your support in this is much appreciated.

I am exceptionally proud of how smart our students look in their uniform. You can find a copy of our uniform expectations here. I am asking tutors on a daily basis to ensure that every student is meeting our expectations, particularly focusing on ensuring students are wearing appropriate ‘business-style’ trousers that are not skinny fit or boot leg.

I will be holding my first Parents Forum on Monday 11th May at 4pm, and would be delighted to meet with you then- if you would like to attend this, please contact Gill Mitchell to book a place on GMitchell@Castlepartnership.org.uk as there will be limited spaces. Additionally please do not hesitate to contact me at any time via Gill if there is anything else you would like to discuss with me or another member of the Leadership Team.
